Embracing the Chaos: Where I am in my journey with AuDHD, Bipolar, and Spirituality

Well. It’s been awhile, I know. Been off on too many side quests lately. 🤷‍♀️ So, today I just want to talk a bit about the *lovely* trifecta of AuDHD (Autism and ADHD), bipolar disorder, and the spiritual journey that comes with it. For those who aren’t in the know, AuDHD is a term used to describe individuals who have both Autism and ADHD, which can present unique challenges and experiences. Sprinkle in a side of Bipolar, and yeah, “I’m a million different people from one day to the next” The Bittersweet Symphony that’s life….

As someone who’s been diagnosed with all three, I’ve had my fair share of struggles. Some days, getting out of bed feels like climbing Mount Everest. Others, I’m on top of the world, and my creativity is unstoppable. But what I’ve learned is that it’s all connected; my neurodiverse brain, my mental health, and my spiritual journey.

🌪️The Struggle is Real⛈️

Let’s be so fr: living with AuDHD and bipolar can be overwhelming. The constant switching between logical, analytical thinking and creative, intuitive thinking can be exhausting. Add to that the mood swings, anxiety, and depression that come with bipolar, and it’s a wonder I make it through the day sometimes. 🫨

But there’s one more thing: As someone who’s deeply interested in spirituality and metaphysics, I’ve come to realise that my experiences are not just random neurological or chemical imbalances. They’re also opportunities for growth, learning, and connection to something greater.

🌟Metaphysical Spiritual Concepts

For me, spirituality is about exploring the mysteries of the universe and our place in it. It’s about finding meaning and purpose beyond the physical realm. When I’m feeling lost or hopeless, I turn to concepts like:

Energy and vibration: I believe that our thoughts, emotions, and experiences are all made up of energy, and that we can shift our vibration to attract what we want into our lives. When I’m feeling stuck, I try to focus on raising my vibration through meditation, movement, or creative activities.

The law of attraction: This idea that like attracts like feels real for me. When I’m feeling positive and focused, I notice that positive experiences and people start to show up in my life. It’s not always easy, but it’s a powerful reminder that I have the power to create my reality.

Soul purpose and meaning: As someone with AuDHD and bipolar, I’ve often felt like I don’t quite fit in or that I’m not good enough. But when I connect with my soul purpose; to create, inspire, and connect with others, I feel a sense of direction and motivation. (Even if connecting with others then requires a social battery recharge of 5-7 days 🤷‍♀️)

💥Finding Motivation When Feeling Hopeless

So, how do I find motivation when the darkness closes in, and it feels like I’m drowning in my own thoughts and emotions? Well it’s obviously different for everyone, these are some things I find helpful:

📍Break it down: When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I try to break down my goals and tasks into tiny, manageable chunks. This helps me focus on one thing at a time and build momentum.

📍Connect with nature: Being in nature always helps me feel more grounded and connected to something greater. Whether it’s a walk on the beach or a hike in the wilderness, I find that being outside helps me clear my head and gain perspective.

📍Creative expression: This is a big one for me. Whether it’s writing, drawing, photography, fashion, or creating music, creative expression always helps me tap into my motivation and inspiration. It’s like my brain and soul are able to communicate in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.

In Conclusion:

Dealing with AuDHD, bipolar, and spirituality can be a wild ride, but it’s also an incredible opportunity for growth and self-discovery. By embracing our unique experiences and perspectives, we can tap into a deeper sense of purpose and meaning. 🙏
